Dr Sowmya Krishnan

Dr Sowmya Krishnan graduated from The University of Adelaide and went on to complete her internship at Mount Gambier Hospital. She did her specialist training in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at both The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Royal Adelaide Hospital. Her interest in sleep medicine and non-invasive ventilation led her to pursue a Sleep Fellowship at Flinders Medical Centre alongside the Adelaide Institute of Sleep Health (AISH).

Having worked across most major hospitals in South Australia, Sowmya believes one of the biggest privileges of being a physician is meeting and caring for a diverse group of people and optimizing their quality of life. She sees a range of respiratory conditions including asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease and also sleep disorders such as snoring, sleep apnoea, parasomnias, circadian rhythm disorders, nocturnal hypoventilation and narcolepsy.

She is also passionate about teaching medical students and junior doctors. She was the Chief Medical Resident at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and is a Clinical Lecturer with the University of Adelaide.

Dr Krishnan is a specialist consultant at the Lyell McEwin Hospital and also has admission rights at Ashford, Calvary Adelaide, Calvary North Adelaide and Burnside Hospitals.

Dr Krishnan consults on Thursdays and Fridays at Ashford Thoracics.
